Kris Mackay

Well Rotherham Operational Manager

In my career, I have been lucky enough to have been given several opportunities to work with people in their communities to improve their health and wellbeing.

I have previously worked as a Self Care Development Manager for Public Health at Salford City Council, an Area Manager for the disability charity Scope, and I currently also work an Associate with Shared Lives Plus supporting them to develop innovative models of health care.

My aim with Well North is to be a catalyst for positive change amongst Rotherham communities. I’m looking forward to getting out there and meeting fascinating new people, hearing their stories and bringing them together. The Well North Pathfinder in Rotherham offers a fantastic opportunity for grassroots development, building communities from scratch and designing change from the ground up.

Rotherham is a vibrant place full of great people and opportunities. Like all towns, there are pockets of poverty and underdevelopment, where communities struggle with unemployment and lack of opportunity. The communities surrounding the new Waverley development, built on a colliery site, were formed around an industry which has disappeared. Through Well Rotherham, I am aiming to help raise aspirations and build sustainable links to employment. This can be built around the opportunities provided by the Advanced Manufacturing Park, the planned Country Park and local housing development to allow for greater wellbeing, community enterprise and a higher standard of living.

Outside of work, I like to spend as much time outdoors as I can; I have just signed myself up for my first triathlon, and love to cycle around Yorkshire. I’ve also got a one-year-old daughter back home in Sheffield who likes to keep me busy.
