Dransfield Foundation makes generous donation to Well Sheffield project
Amanda Holmes, Communications Director of Dransfield Properties, has presented a cheque for over £16,200 to Fay Howard and Andy Clarke of Stocksbridge Community Leisure Centre (SCLC) and Well Sheffield, on behalf of the Dransfield Foundation, the company’s charitable foundation.
The funds were raised though the property company’s annual Tour of Europe bike ride which last year covered a route from Copenhagen to Oslo. A total of £16,227.75 has been donated to the SCLC charity, with a similar amount also being awarded to the team’s other chosen charity, Action Against Cancer.
The donation to Stocksbridge Community Leisure Centre will assist in the delivery of an ambitious project to make the centre more accessible to all. At the moment wheelchair users and others with mobility problems have difficulty using the 1960s and 70s built facility.
Fay Howard said: “Our Centre is one of the largest community run facilities of its kind in our region which is something we are incredibly proud of. Unfortunately, however, it is not fully accessible and we are working on a project to make our building more accessible so that everyone can enjoy this fantastic local amenity.
“This is a fantastic donation from the Dransfield Foundation which will make a great contribution towards our project, and we can’t thank Mark and the team who take on this amazing cycling challenge enough.”
Managing Director Mark Dransfield added: “We are delighted and very proud to be able to make this contribution to our local community here in Stocksbridge. Thank you to everyone who takes part in our bike ride every year and of course to every single person who donates to our fundraising efforts - it really is appreciated.”
